Kierunek Master in Mechanical Engineering
A graduate of the second-cycle Master in Mechanical Engineering program possesses well established and advanced knowledge and skills appropriate for the discipline of mechanical engineering in the areas of:
• general methodology of design and engineering work;
• design, construction, technology, and operation of machines;
• selection of advanced materials, manufacturing technologies, and production techniques;
• analysis of mechanical system performance and description of phenomena occurring within them;
• conducting experimental research using metrology principles;
• using professional computer software supporting engineering work in mechanics and machine design;
• acquiring, processing, and analyzing data when solving engineering or research problems;
• selected economic, legal, intellectual property protection, and environmental protection issues in the context of mechanical engineering;
as well as solid and wide-ranging competencies related to working in design and research teams in the scope of:
• the ability to plan and conduct design work and scientific research;
• teamwork, appropriate behavior, and tolerance among different cultures and nationalities;
• competencies in critically evaluating information sources and obtained results;
• evaluating oneself and coworkers based on defined criteria.
A graduate of the second-cycle Master in Mechanical Engineering program may be employed as an engineer (M.Sc.) in positions such as designers, technologists, maintenance engineers, and chief mechanics in all branches of industry related to mechanical engineering. The graduate may also find employment in corporate research and development centers, research institutes, and scientific units as a member or leader of research teams.
The skills and competencies acquired during the studies enable effective work in various teams, as well as the establishment of private manufacturing and/or service companies. These broad career opportunities result from the high versatility of the acquired education, which—besides solid engineering knowledge—also includes aspects related to the use of modern engineering and research tools, data processing and analysis, organization and management, and a strong command of the English language.
Studies in the Master in Mechanical Engineering program also prepare graduates to undertake third-cycle (doctoral) studies in the discipline of mechanical engineering or related fields.
