Study programme Chemistry in Forensics
Graduates in Forensic Chemistry possess in-depth knowledge of chemistry and its applications in forensic science and criminology, particularly chemical analysis, trace analysis, forensic analysis, and chemical analysis of evidence. They are familiar with modern instrumental techniques and methods used to identify, characterize, and interpret various samples, including microscopic, chromatographic, spectroscopic, mass spectrometric, and imaging techniques used in forensic laboratories.
The graduate has the ability to independently plan, conduct, and document analytical processes in accordance with good laboratory practice standards and procedures appropriate for law enforcement research. They can interpret chemical analysis results while taking into account their limitations, method validation principles, and formal requirements for handling evidence. They demonstrate the ability to prepare reports and expert opinions that meet the requirements of accredited laboratories and entities providing expertise for law enforcement agencies. Graduates understand the social, criminological, and legal conditions related to crime and are able to incorporate them into the interpretation of evidence. They possess the competencies necessary for teamwork and communication in an interdisciplinary environment. During their education, they develop analytical thinking skills, solving complex research problems, and teamwork.
The graduate's competency profile enables them to work in forensic, toxicological, and chemical laboratories, research and development units, and institutions performing specialized analyses for law enforcement and the justice system.
