Study programme Applied Mathematics

Graduates of Applied Mathematics possess advanced mathematical knowledge and analytical skills necessary to solve complex theoretical and practical problems, including those utilizing modern IT tools. They possess a solid foundation in mathematical logic, set theory, discrete mathematics, mathematical analysis, algebra, probability theory, statistics, and elements of computer science and computational techniques, enabling them to pursue graduate studies in mathematics, computer science (including data science), economics, and interdisciplinary fields.

Graduates also possess skills in the following areas:

• Financial and insurance mathematics – the graduate can analyze selected financial and insurance processes, calculate insurance premiums and reserves, and assess credit risk;
• Data analysis and mining – the graduate understands statistical algorithms and methods for extracting knowledge from data and can use database systems and analytical tools.

Graduates will also possess initial competencies in artificial intelligence applications, potentially involving these techniques in financial data analysis, insurance risk assessment, and decision-making modeling. They will be able to apply machine learning methods to analyze large data sets and support predictive and optimization processes. Graduates are prepared to work both individually and in teams, including in multidisciplinary environments, including international ones, requiring precision and logical reasoning.
